Mendelson Gallery / First Friday on Ellsworth Ave

New works by Cynthia Cooley and Elaine Morris
Opening Friday, April 4, 6 to 9 pm

Elaine and Cynthia have been inspired by their travels together for over ten years to put this wonderful exhibition together. They share a friendship and wander/wonder lust that touches us all.

Cooley, painting in acrylic and watercolor, shares her experience of the timeless landscape beauty of Vietnam and Morocco and the dramatic contrasts of ancient and modern Tunisia and Peru.

Morris works in mixed media. While traveling she photographed her shadow as it fell on monuments, ancient ruins and the lands she visited. She layers transparencies of these images with prints and paintings.  She is also showing drawings of other travelers as they experience Belize, Costa Rica and Hawaii.

Both Morris and Cooley are well-known Pittsburgh artists, with works in the collection of the Carnegie Museum of Art and many other public and private collections.

Mendelson Gallery is located at 5874 Ellsworth Avenue in Shadyside. Hours are Wednesday through Saturday, 12 to 5 pm or by appointment at 412 361-8664.
